Extruded NYLON 6 [ERTALON® 6SA] & NYLON 6.6 [ERTALON® 66SA]

 

Within the Polyamides (P.A.), commonly referred to as "Nylons", we distinguish different types. The most important ones are: PA 6, PA 66, PA 11 and PA 12. The classification of these types is made according to the number of carbon atoms contained in the elementary structure between the nitrogen atoms. For example Nylon 6 (PA 6) with six carbon atoms and Nylon 6.6 (PA 66) with two groups of six etc. Please note PA 11 and PA 12 are not readily available in semi-finished (rod, sheet, plate, tube) forms.

NYLON 6 (ERTALON® 6SA) EXTRUDED Natural

This material offers an optimal combination of mechanical strength, stiffness, toughness, mechanical damping properties and wear resistance. These properties, together with a favourable electrical insulating ability, and good chemical resistance make Nylon 6 a "general purpose" grade for mechanical construction and maintenance applications.

NYLON 6 (ERTALON® 6SA) EXTRUDED Black

Due to the addition of a pigment only, the material is black in colour, which is preferred by some users in certain applications.

NYLON 66 (ERTALON® 66SA) EXTRUDED Natural

Has a higher mechanical strength, stiffness, heat and wear resistance than extruded Nylon 6. It also has a better creep resistance but its impact strength and mechanical damping ability is reduced. Nylon 6.6 is well suited for machining on automatic lathes.

Please note that the ERTALON® 66SA natural rods lager than 150mm diameter are manufactured from a modified polyamide 66 resin and are designated ERTALON® 66SA-C

NYLON 66 30% GLASS FILLED (ERTALON® 66-GF30) EXTRUDED Black

Compared with virgin nylon 66, this 30% glass fibre reinforced and heat stabilised nylon grade offers increased strength, stiffness, creep resistance and better dimensional stability whilst retaining an excellent wear resistance. It also allows higher maximum service temperatures.
