NYLATRON®
is a brand name that dates back to Polypenco, when DSM
acquired Polypenco and Erta the brand names were
reviewed and consolidated. The majority of Nylon
products were branded ERTALON® but the most
established Polypenco brands such as NYLATRON®
were kept.
In certain applications, the
performance of Nylon 6.6 can be enhanced by the
incorporation of fillers.
NYLATRON® GS contains a
measured quantity of molybdenum disulphide (MOS2).
The addition of MOS2 renders this material
somewhat stiffer, harder and dimensionally more stable
than standard Nylon 6.6 but does result in some loss of
impact strength. The nucleating effect of the MOS2
results in an improved crystalline structure
enhancing bearing and wear properties.
